The choice of parquet varnish depends on the load that falls on your floor. For the floor with a greater load, varnish with greater wear resistance is required.
If you need varnish that penetrates the wood deeply, then the varnish created on a alkyd basis is your choice. It is developed from alkyd resins, which are based on natural raw materials: linseed or wood oil. However, some disadvantages have some disadvantages. In terms of wear resistance, they are inferior to acid and polyurethane varnishes. They cannot be used in too large quantities, since by applying too much layer, the floor surface can become wrinkled. Also alkyd varnishes have a pungent smell.
Polyurethane -based varnishes also have good qualities and are applied not only to parquet, but also on the door and attic stairs. The low moisture resistance of these varnishes is compensated by light resistance, elasticity and heat resistance. It is advisable to use them for floors, subject to heavy loads.
The largest wear resistance in our time is acid -adapted varnishes. The basis for their production is formaldehyde resins. Applying them to the parquet does not require primer primer. The roller or brush will be quite suitable for their use, however, you can use the spray gun. Like alkyd varnishes, they have a strong smell. However, it disappears three hours after using the varnish.
